The George Goodman League: Community through Basketball
Over the course of 25 years, The George Goodman League has made a name for itself nationally through its competitive basketball tournament, but to the residents of Ward 8 in Washington, DC the league represents much more than summer hoops in the city.
The commissioner, Miles Rawles, has been committed to the Barry Farm neighborhood where he was ‘born and raised’ far beyond the summer pro-am he has hosted for 25 years and counting. From NBA stars to local legends The Goodman League has served as a proving ground for anybody in the DMV who believes they have the skills to compete at the next level.
atmos DC is teaming up with Miles and the Goodman League Foundation to provide support to the residents of Ward 8 and help continue his work in the local community and commemorate 25 years "inside da gates."
To close in on this milestone of the famed League, our atmos DC team has been documenting games this summer, getting a firsthand look at what the league means to residents and those involved in making it happen.
Purchase the atmos x The George Goodman League t-shirt here starting at 11am ET 9/11. All proceeds will be going towards The George Goodman Summer League Foundation Inc.Â
